FAQ | MORE ABOUT THE EVENT:
What is the purpose of the event? "Joining God in the Neighborhood" is a one day event created to equip churches to participate more fully in the mission of God in their own community. It is one thing to know how to get people from outside the church into the church to discover God; it is another thing altogether to lead people from inside the church out into the neighborhood to discover God. That is what this event is all about - interactive training that better prepares churches to pursue a God alive and at work in the world and learn how to participate fully in that mission.
What is The Missional Network?
The Missional Network is a group dedicated to hope-in-action as they learn to participate with what God is doing in the local. TMN cultivates safe spaces, robust resources and processes to re-orient our Christian communities for the sake of the Gospel and the transformation of God's world. The TMN is pastors, theologians, consultants, and businesspersons coming alongside congregations to help them discover what God is up to in this local community and be equipped to join God in that work. Books, videos, resource, trainings, and seminars are just a few ways they are doing this work.
Who will be leading the seminar? Michael Binder, the Pastor of Teaching and Vision at Mill City Church in Northeast Minneapolis, is the Missional Network consultant that will be working with us. Mill City Church is a new church development that is six years old and is very focused on neighborhood ministry. Michael is currently working on his dissertation in a PhD program at Luther Seminary with a focus on missional theology and leadership development. His writing includes "Participation is the New Excellence" and "Failing Them Softly," both published in Leadership Journal. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife and three kids.
