Ken McCord was a beloved son, cherished brother, and very dear friend to many. His was a very precious and special life that was taken from us on December 15, 2013.
Those who knew Ken were drawn in by his laughter, his joy for music, his fierce devotion to his friends, and his authentic compassion towards others. He is missed by many.
His parents, Lloyd and Maureen, have asked that a Memorial Fund continue to be available for gifts to be made in his honor, especially as we remember him on his birthday, July 24th.
The funds are being directed to a literacy development initiative called Young Scholars. Shawn has the privilege of being a friend, mentor, and youth minister to Ken for a number of years. Ken was planning to be an educator. He possessed a clear gift for working with kids. Therefore, his family feels that the Young Scholars program is an ideal way for family and friends to honor his memory.
Young Scholars works with first and second grade students in Dekalb County, GA with strategic, well-researched literacy development curriculum that is guided by volunteers from local churches. If you would like to learn more, click here.
